The Founders


Ms. Ma. Luisa “Elo” Lopez is an experienced development and human resource practitioner engaged in the conduct of transition management, investment, and business programs for retiring and down-sized employees of large companies. She helped transform fledging cooperatives of companies such as San Miguel Group of Companies, Coca Cola Bottlers Philippines, Inc., Jollibee Foods Corporation, Abenson Group of Companies, and Dole Fil into multi-million peso workers’ cooperatives. Elo, whose advocacy is the creation of a social enterprise and generate employment for displaced workers, is the President and Vice Chairman of Business Enterprise and Career Mentors, Inc., the instrumental enterprise of Juan Balikbayan, Inc. Ms. Lopez was also the former Executive Director of the Philippine Enterprise Development Foundation, the local counterpart of Enterprise Mentors International of Mo., USA, engaged in micro finance and business consultancy. She was the former Manager of the Social Development Management Institute – Philippine Business for Social Progress, and the former Director of PBSP Landbank Integrated Rural Financing Cooperative Institution Building Program. Elo Lopez is the Founder and Organizer of Staff Search Asia Service Cooperative, the leading cooperative engaged in job contracting using Department of Labor and Employment’s mandate on tri-lateral arrangement.


Kathrina has a diverse background in mentoring, fashion marketing, and luxury retail sales. She moved to California in 2009 where she earned a degree in fashion marketing at the Art Institute of California, San Francisco, and graduated as Cum Laude, wherein she received best in Portfolio award. After her studies, she moved back to the Philippines to reconnect with family, friends, and colleagues before migrating to the United States for good.  Kathrina brought her then fiancé now husband to visit and explore the country. It was around this time that the couple brainstormed the beginning phases of Juan Balikbayan. During her year-long stay in the Philippines, Kathrina worked for her family’s consultancy firm – Business Enterprise and Career Mentors, Inc. as a Training consultant. She helped in transforming the lives of people by way of mentoring the social advocacy of the company to become better employers and employees. Kathrina is also a wanderlust at heart, and has travelled around the Philippines, Southeast Asia and the United States. Her passion for travel and mentoring moved her to pursue this venture with her family as a social enterprise and advocacy.

Atty Dan
Atty. Danilo L. Patron is a law practitioner,  a corporate and business adviser,  labor and cooperative specialist,   tax consultant, and  a legal strategist.   He has been in the practice  of law  for the past  24 years operating under the firm name Patron Law Office.
He graduated  from San Beda College  in 1990 and passed the bar in 1991. He  finished his accounting degree in 1985 and became a  licensed  Certified Public Accountant  the following year.
He has extensive experience  in tax  advisory,  corporate governance,  labor,  cooperative, real estate,  litigation and strategic legal management handling reputable clients engaged in real estate,  job contracting,  service and trading business,  entertainment, information technology, and financing.
